Recovery, The Man, and Later

Well it's definitely been longer than I wanted it to be between posts - I've had stuff but I haven't had a connection to the internet!! My home connection will be down until Friday, so I will try to get some things up but that requires stealing the internet b/c work blocks this site (sad, I know). But when I get paid, I'll have that internet up pronto for sure.

Let's see, what's happened since last time... Hitting the gym with thebryon was freakin awesome on Sunday, it's a challenging routine made more challenging by having someone to work out with. I was pretty done after that one, and even took Monday off for recovery - which I think is a good idea moving forward. I could take Mondays and Fridays off and still get 5 workouts a week. Drank a little more than necessary Sunday night, but that was fun. Monday was SORE DAY! After working all the major muscles w/ thebryon and two days of football I needed the rest.

I worked out today too, but was having trouble keeping the intensity up. Not sure if it's because I work out at the end of the day or if my body was still complaining about the weekend. We'll have to see how tomorrow and Thursday go - I am considering switching to mornings if I get a better workout. I did go up in every exercise today too, I was feeling pumped after the weekend. I also switched out my Hammer Strength Incline Press for assisted dips - wow did those kick my ass. I tried to throw in the assisted chin-ups, but I don't think I can do enough of those yet to really make it worthwhile (maybe next month). For cardio I pooped out after 20min, possibly because I finished my book though :)

I am planning a little article about nutrient rich foods but I don't think I will get to it tonight. It's something I've been reading about and something I've always considered with what I eat, but what really inspired the extra research and article idea is a comment thebryon made on ErikP's traineo page - basically saying that it doesn't so much matter what you eat so long as you are expending more calories than you are ingesting. While technically (or mathematically) correct, I think the value of what you eat needs to be considered quite a bit more.

I've also started reading a little about Cross Fit, so if anyone has any info to share on that, please do! It is a cool approach and I've often wondered how best to focus on the more intangible aspects of weight lifting like power, speed, and overall competition in sports...

That's all I've got for now, but when I steal some wifi again I'll add more!

Do it right or don't do it.
